PORT HENRY FIRE DISTRICT #3 FIRE COMMISSIONER
Notice is hereby given that the Annual Election for the office of Commissioner of
the Port Henry Fire District #3 will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at the
Port Henry Fire House, 14 Church Street, Port Henry, NY 12974 for the purpose of
electing (2) Commissioners for a five (5) year term.
The polls will be open from 6pm to 9pm.Commissioner meeting to be held from
5:00PM-6:00PM.
NOTICE TO CANDIDATES FOR COMMISSIONER
OF PORT HENRY FIRE DISTRICT #3:
1- Candidate must be a resident of Port Henry Fire District # 3 and must
take an 8-hour course after being elected.
2- Only residents registered to vote with the Essex County Board of
Elections on or before November 18
th
, 2024 shall be eligible to vote.
3-November 20, 2024 is the last day to notify the Port Henry Fire District #
3 Secretary in writing by filing a signed Intent to Run for Office for Fire
Commissioner.

Notice is hereby given that the Moriah Fire District #1 will hold a public election on December 10, 2024
from 6-9PM at the Moriah Fire House on Tarbell Hill road in Moriah, NY to elect one (1) Fire
Commissioner to fill one (1) five (5) year term. Candidates interested in being placed on the ballot for
the position of Fire Commissioner must submit their request in writing to Ben Winters, Secretary Moriah
Fire District #1, 98 Edgemont Road Moriah, NY 12960 no later than December 6, 2024. All persons who
have been a resident in the Moriah Fire District #1 for at least 30 days and are registered voters will be
eligible to vote in this election.

Highway Department-Heavy Equipment Operator
The Town of Moriah Highway Department seeks applications for the full time position of Heavy Equipment Operator. Applicant must possess a valid New York State Class B CDL License or Permit at the time of appointment.
Job specifications detailing the minimum qualifications are available by calling Highway Superintendent, Jamie Wilson at 518-942-7155.
Successful applicant must pass a pre-employment physical which includes mandatory drug testing and the position remains subject to the Town of Moriah’s random drug testing policy during the course of employment.
Any interested individual may apply provided they meet minimum qualifications. Applications are available at the Town Clerk’s Office, 38 Park Place, Port Henry, NY 12974. Water & Sewer Billing Reminder!
The Town of Moriah Water & Sewer Clerk Rose M. French will be collecting Water and Sewer rents beginning January 2, 2024. Billing and due dates are as follows:
Bill January 1st for January, February and March; Due February 3rd
Bill April 1st for April, May and June; Due May 3rd
Bill July 1st for July, August and September; Due August 3rd
Bill October 1st for October, November and December; Due November 3rd
All rents will be collected through November 3, 2024, after which any unpaid balance will be levied on to the Town & County taxes which come out in January 2025.
PLEASE REMIT BOTTOM PORTION OF INVOICE WHEN PAYING YOUR BILL TO ENSURE CREDIT TO THE PROPER ACCOUNT AND BE SURE TO INCLUDE YOUR TELEPHONE NUMBER.

Seeking Request for Proposals-alterations to existing Beach House
The Town of Moriah is seeking bids to support the design and alteration of an existing structure at Champ RV Park-Beach House located at 54 Dock Lane Port Henry, NY on Lake Champlain.
The contractor will be required to draft a proposed design with the assistance of the Town and Code Officers. The structure is to be altered into a 2-unit short term rental.
In addition to drafting the design the contractor will be responsible for all the scopes of construction to meet the new design requirements.

Town Board Meeting’s – Week Day Change
The Town of Moriah Town Board will hold their regular monthly board meetings on the 3rd Thursday of every month instead of the 2nd Thursday of every month due to a scheduling conflict. They will be held at the Town of Moriah Court House, 42 Park Place, Port Henry, NY at 6:00pm. The public is welcome to attend.

REVALUATION PROJECT
The Town of Moriah will be conducting a Revaluation Project for the year 2024. The assessors for the Town and / or Data Collectors from the Essex County Real Property Tax Service Office will be visiting each parcel to verify property information in an effort to maintain a fair and equitable assessment roll.

Effective immediately the Town will no longer be charging for the disposal of elctronic waste at the Transfer Station. The Town will still accept electronic waste as per DEC regulations but the manufacturer is now responsible for any associated recycling costs.
